Dear [Νame],
The Programme at a Glance for ECSS Glasgow 2024 is available online!
We would like to use this occasion to thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our College! Based on your continuous feedback and suggestions, we are constantly trying to improve our services and your congress experience to the best of our ability. We would like to announce the most important upcoming changes for our future ECSS Annual Congresses below:
|
Congress Model
We have slightly adapted our congress model. From ECSS Glasgow 2024 onwards, the pre-congress day (if organised by the local host) will take place on the Monday of the congress week preferably at the host’s facilities. The official congress days will be from Tuesday to Friday. Tuesday morning will be used for specific ECSS programme such as Masterclasses and the ECSS General Assembly, while the scientific programme will officially start on Tuesday at 12:00. The opening ceremony and welcome reception will be moved from Wednesday to Tuesday evening. There are numerous reasons that led to this minor modification going in hand with your feedback and, among others, making the packed congress days at least a little shorter and offering the opportunity to enjoy the host city more. You can find a more detailed overview of the daily schedule in our Programme at a Glance for ECSS Glasgow 2024.

Student Verification
Since this autumn, you can digitally upload your student enrolment certificate in your ECSS account in the section “myMembership & Benefits” to verify your student status. Existing ECSS student members need to submit a valid student enrolment certificate by 30 November of each year in order to continue benefitting from the reduced membership fee for students in the following year. If a valid student enrolment certificate is not submitted by 30 November, existing ECSS student member accounts will automatically be converted to a regular ECSS membership account for the upcoming year and charged the full ECSS membership fee.

Award (ECSS YIA & GSSI Award) and Travel Grant (ECSS & ECSS YIA) Application
We have adapted our abstract submission system so that applications for the ECSS YIA and/or GSSI Award need to be uploaded during the abstract submission instead of sending the documents by an additional email. You will be asked at the beginning of your abstract submission whether you wish to apply for the above-mentioned awards. If yes, you will need to upload all required documents in the next step and will then be redirected to the abstract submission page. Please prepare all required documents in advance, as applications by email will no longer be accepted and resubmission of documents will not be possible. If you do not wish to participate in the awards, you will be directed immediately to the abstract submission.
If you wish to apply for either the ECSS Travel Grant or the ECSS YIA Travel Grant, please indicate this during the abstract submission. Afterwards, you can upload the required documents within your ECSS account. Applications by email will no longer be accepted.

ECSS Congress App
From ECSS Glasgow 2024 onwards, we will provide a mobile app for our Annual Congresses! This congress app will allow you to browse all sessions online, create your personalised congress schedule, network with other participants, view the congress venue and SportEx floor plans, be notified about all important news and much more! Further information will be announced in advance of ECSS Glasgow 2024.
|
Poster Session App
We were delighted with the high level of participation in our poster sessions at ECSS Paris 2023 and the resulting appreciation for our poster presenters! To give everyone interested the opportunity to listen to the respective poster session, we will introduce an app solution for this presentation format. You can listen with your own mobile device and switch between poster sessions as you wish easily and quickly. Do not forget your headphones for this purpose! We will provide you with further instructions and information in good time before the congress so that you can prepare yourself optimally.

ECSS Landing Page
We are working on updating our website presence and will create a new landing page that combines the three main pillars of the ECSS: the College, the Congress and the Journal. From that landing page you will be redirected to the contents of your choice. We are also preparing a new EJSS website to coincide with our move to Wiley and open access publishing from 1 January 2024. We will implement these changes in advance of ECSS Glasgow 2024.

Latest ECSS News
To keep you best informed about the above-mentioned changes, the progress of the congress organisation and other ECSS-related information without sending out additional newsletters every time, we installed a section with the latest ECSS news on our homepage (directly below the banners of the main ECSS website). If you are interested, you can browse our homepage to keep you up to date with the College!
We hope to accommodate many of your expressed concerns and wishes with the planned changes. If you have any questions or further suggestions, please contact us at office@sport-science.org.
